During my final year, I needed to choose a project for my informatics degree. The challenge was real because most of the brilliant ideas I had lacked relevant data for Zimbabwe. So, I settled for a project with the easiest data to find – I stumbled upon it on Kaggle. That experience opened my eyes to a more significant problem.
It brought me back to a familiar idea my team had during my attachment year in school – digitizing paper form data for companies and uploading it to the cloud. We wanted to collect new data that didn't exist in the market yet, data that could be a game-changer for companies in their marketing efforts. As an innovator, I connected the dots and decided to kickstart 'Zimdata', and thus, I called the Avengers.
So, there it was, the spark that ignited the idea. There was clearly a gap – a space where students, AI enthusiasts, researchers, SMEs, and startups could converge, collaborate, and turn data into action. ZimData was necessary.
Our mission? It goes beyond having a cool platform. It's about encouraging collaboration. We want companies to find solutions to their bottlenecks through collaboration with industry professionals, we want professionals to connect, and ideas to collide in the best way possible.
But wait, there's more! We're not just about numbers and algorithms. We're about refining processes, making things smoother, faster, and more efficient. Think of it like this: If data is the engine, we're the pit crew, fine-tuning it to win the race.
As proud Zimbabweans, we're on a mission to build our country up. Our Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry? Yeah, we're here to give it a boost. We're not just dreaming about it; we're rolling up our sleeves and getting our hands dirty in the digital soil.
Agriculture, Mining, Transportation, Logistics – these aren't just words to us. They're areas where data can shine. We want to take that raw data, turn it into insights, and sprinkle a bit of innovation to make things better for everyone.
So, here we are, crafting a story where data isn't just a buzzword; it's a tool for positive change. We're building more than a platform; we're building a community, a movement even. And here's the catch, we aren't even here to sell you anything, just to connect data with people who can make the best use of it.
